mahna mahna .net

Like many personal blogs of its era, this blog is moribund, a casualty of what we might call "the Facebook effect." However, as of late 2015, two things are clear: (1) The Indie Web is a thing, and (2) the re-decentralization of the web is a thing. So who knows? 2016 2017 2018 (!) could be the year this blog rises from its own ashes. Stay tuned!

Last night as I was preparing dinner, there was a strange and alarming noise outside. It sounded sort of like someone setting off some firecrackers in the nearby parking lot, but I took a look out there and saw nothing. Today I discovered the source: The large tree outside our apartment lost one of its main branches.

Last week there were some birds beginning to nest in that tree. They chirped nearly constantly in the morning and at twilight. Today there was no sign of them.

Happy June, readers!

David had this to say (06/02/2003 09:48:46):
It's estimated that between 400 and 450 people are killed and over 10,000 are injured every year in the U.S. due to falling trees and branches. Of course, a lot of these folk are loggers.
Michael D. had this to say (06/04/2003 10:03:03):
Well there's your problem. . . fat birds. They probably left because they're feeling guilty . . . or embarrassed.

Your thoughts?
